01 — Context

A 100-year-old brand, ready for the next century

King Home & Garden has been making pest control and garden care products for Canadians since 1918. Based in Fort Erie, Ontario, and proudly Canadian owned and operated, it sells through hardware stores, garden centres and retailers across the country.

Over the years King had grown into four distinct product lines: Rodentex for rodent control, Eco-Way for eco-friendly insect and garden treatments, King Pro Series for durable tools and equipment, and King Essentials for everyday garden basics. The website needed to bring all four under one trusted name, help homeowners find the right product fast, and give retailers and regulators the documents they need.

02 — Design

Bright, friendly and unmistakably King

We kept the classic red and yellow King crown and built a fresher world around it: deep forest green, a zesty lime for buttons, warm cream panels and a bold orange underline that marks the key word in each headline. "Built for Canada. Ready for Anything." sets the tone straight away.

Each product line has its own colour and simple icon, so Rodentex, Eco-Way and the rest are easy to tell apart, while rounded photography of real gardens and real people keeps everything approachable. It's a site that feels like a modern consumer brand, without losing a century of trust. That balance starts with a homepage that makes a strong first impression.

03 — The identifier

From "what is that?" to the right product

Most people don't shop for pest control by product name. They shop by problem: something is eating the tomatoes, there are ants in the kitchen, the roses have spots. So we designed a Pest & Disease Identifier that starts there.

The Eco-Way Insect Identifier shows ten common pests, from Colorado potato beetles and earwigs to bedbugs and centipedes, as clear photo tiles. A Disease Identifier does the same for problems like powdery mildew, scab, black spot, rust and black knot. Tap the one you're seeing and you're matched with the right King product. The homepage points straight to it with a "Find the Right Solution — Fast" panel, because the quickest path to a sale is answering the customer's real question.

04 — Product lines

Four lines, one family

Every product line has its own landing page with a hero, the reasons to choose it, featured products, where to buy and an FAQ. Rodentex, for example, leads with "Tough on Rodents. Trusted by Canadians." and shows its snap traps, bait stations and fly swatters.

Product detail pages keep it simple: a big product image and gallery, key features, who it's best for, and where to buy. Behind the scenes, safety data sheets and regulatory and specification sheets each have their own page, so retailers and inspectors can find what they need.

05 — The result

Easier to find, easier to trust

King Home & Garden now has a website that matches the quality of its products: clear about who King is, organized around four product lines, and genuinely helpful when you're staring at a damaged plant. We designed and developed it end to end, from the visual direction and UX of the identifier to the retailer section inviting stores to partner with King.

A good-looking site is only half the job; it has to work for the business too. For more growing-season work, see Grills Orchards.
