FAQ
Answers to the questions we hear most.
Everything you wanted to know.
How much does it cost?
It depends on your project, because every web design or branding engagement we take on is customized to your specific needs and goals. The scope, the complexity and the features you need are what shape the cost.
For an accurate number, book a complimentary consultation where we can talk through your vision and then provide a detailed quote. Already know what you need? Our quick project form gets you a pain-free estimate. Helpful things to mention include what you're hoping to achieve, any deadlines and whether you need branding, a website or both. The more we understand up front, the more precise your quote will be, and you'll know exactly what's included before committing.
How long does it take?
Typically 6–10 weeks for most branding projects and 8–20 weeks for most websites, with the exact length depending on scope and how quickly feedback comes back. Before we start, you'll get a clear timeline with milestones, and we stick to it.
The quickest projects tend to share a few things: a clear decision-maker, content that's ready or planned early and feedback that arrives on schedule. Larger websites with integrations, lots of content or multiple stakeholders naturally take longer, as do brand projects that include naming or extensive messaging work. If you're working toward a specific date, like a product launch, trade show or new fiscal year, share it during your consultation so the schedule is built around it from day one.
Who comes up with the content?
It's a partnership: you know your business, and we know how to make it read well. We can use copy you already have, polish it or write everything from scratch. Most clients land on a mix, where you supply the facts and we shape the story.
In practice, that might look like a short interview with your team, a review of your existing website and sales materials, and a content plan that maps out what each page or piece needs to say. We then write or edit in your brand's voice, with your customers' questions and search habits in mind. You stay in control: every draft comes to you for review, and nothing is published until you're happy with how it reads.
What industries and clients do you serve?
A wide range: professional services, healthcare, construction and trades, food and beverage, non-profits, startups, finance and education, plus plenty in between. Whatever the industry, our brand-first approach stays the same.
Our clients range from law firms and clinics to HVAC companies, craft beverage brands, charities, First Nations organizations, insurance firms and training providers. Each brings its own challenges, like accessibility and privacy in healthcare, recruiting in construction or bilingual packaging for food products, and we take those seriously. What stays the same is our process: understand the business and its customers first, then design a brand and website that make sense to them. If your industry isn't on the list, get in touch anyway; we enjoy learning new ones.
Do you offer ongoing support after the project is completed?
Yes. Our website care plans handle updates, backups, security and small changes, and we're happy to stay on as your creative partner for campaigns, collateral and new pages.
A website needs ongoing attention to stay secure and working properly, especially on WordPress, where plugins and core software update regularly. Our care plans cover that, plus regular backups and time for small edits, so you're not starting a new project every time you need a tweak. On the creative side, many clients come back to us for brochures, presentations, signage, email templates or social media graphics. Because we already know your brand, that work moves faster and stays consistent.
What services do you offer?
Everything a brand needs to show up consistently, from one team: branding and identity, website design and development, SEO and strategy, content, and print and digital design.
On the web side, that covers custom website design, WordPress development, e-commerce websites, UX/UI and app design, SEO and website maintenance. On the brand side, it includes brand identity, brand guidelines, packaging, presentations, publications, annual reports, signage, trade show design, email design, infographics and content creation. Clients can start with a single project or bring us in for a complete brand and website. Either way, having one team handle it all keeps your brand consistent and saves you from coordinating several suppliers.
How involved will I be in the design process?
You can be as involved as you like, and you'll always be part of every key decision. Strategy, concepts and builds are shared at set review points, so you'll always know what's coming next.
Expect the most involvement at the start, when we learn about your business in discovery, and at each review stage, when you give feedback on work in progress. Between those points, we'll keep you updated without filling your inbox. It helps to nominate one main contact and agree on who makes final decisions, especially if several people want a say. That keeps feedback clear and the project on schedule, while still giving everyone the chance to be heard.
Can you work with our existing brand guidelines?
Absolutely. A brand in good shape is something we're happy to design within. If yours is showing its age, we'll say so honestly and suggest a refresh rather than a rebuild.
Send us your existing brand guidelines, logo files and a few examples of how the brand is being used today. We'll check how well it translates to the work you need, whether that's a website, packaging or marketing materials. Sometimes guidelines are missing details, like digital colour values or social media rules, and we'll fill those gaps thoughtfully. If bigger issues come up, we'll explain them clearly and give you options, so you can decide how far to go.
Do you use templates or pre-made themes?
Never. We design every website from scratch around your brand, and our own team builds it. No purchased themes, no page builders.
Pre-made themes and page builders can be tempting because they look quick, but they usually come with extra code, slower load times, limited flexibility and designs that dozens of other businesses already use. A custom website is built only for your content, your customers and your goals. It's leaner, faster, easier for your team to edit and better for SEO and accessibility. Just as importantly, it looks like your brand rather than a template with your logo dropped in.
Who writes the content for my website?
Whichever suits you: we can write it, refine what you have or work from your own copy. In every case we plan the content structure first, so each page has a clear job to do.
Planning structure first means deciding what pages your website or materials need, who each page is for and what action it should lead to. Once that's clear, writing becomes much easier and design has something solid to work with. If you'd like us to write, we'll gather information from your team and research what your customers search for. If you're writing, we'll provide outlines and feedback. Either way, content and design are developed together, not bolted on at the end.
Who will work on my website?
You'll work with senior designers and developers, plus the founders, who personally oversee every project. There are no hand-offs to juniors you've never met.
We deliberately keep our team small and experienced. The people you meet at the start are the people who work on your project, which means less repeating yourself, fewer misunderstandings and faster answers when questions come up. Our founders stay involved from discovery to launch, keeping an eye on strategy and quality. With designers and developers on the same team, what gets designed is what gets built. It's a more personal way to work, and we think it makes the whole process easier.
What platform will my website be built on?
Most often a custom WordPress build, which makes it easy for your team to edit content. When a site doesn't need self-editing and maximum speed is the priority, we build in custom PHP instead.
WordPress powers a huge share of the web, and with a custom theme it gives you a clean, fast site with an editor tailored to your content. That's ideal for teams that post news, add services or update pages regularly. Custom PHP is a good fit for simpler sites where speed matters most and updates can be handled by us. For online stores, we'll discuss e-commerce options too. We recommend a platform after understanding how your team works, not before.
Do you offer website maintenance after launch?
Yes. Our care plans cover updates, security, backups, uptime monitoring and small content changes, which keeps your site fast and safe.
Websites aren't set-and-forget. Software updates fix security issues and keep things running smoothly, backups protect you if something goes wrong and uptime monitoring alerts us when your site isn't responding. Our website maintenance plans handle all of that for you, plus time for small edits like updating text, swapping images or adding a team member. We can also take on maintenance for sites we didn't build, starting with a health check to see what the site needs.
Do you work with clients outside Toronto?
Yes. Our clients are spread across Canada and the U.S., and most of our collaboration happens through video calls and shared files.
Our process is built for remote work. Discovery sessions and reviews happen over video, designs are shared online so you can comment directly, and you'll get regular updates by email. Distance doesn't change who you work with or how much attention your project gets. We're mindful of time zones when scheduling, and we keep communication clear so decisions don't get lost. Wherever you're based, you get the same senior team and the same level of care.
What’s the difference between a rebrand and a brand refresh?
It comes down to the foundation. A brand refresh keeps it and updates how your brand looks; a rebrand revisits the foundation itself, meaning your positioning, name, messaging and identity.
Think of a brand refresh as renovating a house you still love. You might modernize the logo, update colours and fonts and tidy up inconsistent materials, keeping the recognition you've built. A rebrand is more like reconsidering whether it's the right house at all. It suits businesses that have merged, changed direction, outgrown their name or started serving a different audience. Both are valid. The right choice depends on whether your strategy still fits, and our discovery process helps answer that honestly.
Do I need a full rebrand or just a logo update?
It depends on how much your business has changed. A new audience, new services or new ambitions usually call for more than a logo. Our discovery process tells us which you need, and we'll be honest about the answer.
Some useful questions: Do customers understand what you do? Are you attracting the clients you want? Does your brand look as established as your business actually is? Does your messaging still match your services? If the answers are mostly yes and the logo just looks dated, a logo update or brand refresh may be enough. If several answers are no, a fuller rebrand is often worth it. We'll recommend what fits your situation, not the biggest possible project.
Who will work on my brand?
Your branding project is handled by our senior designers and the founders, who stay involved all the way from the first conversation to the final files.
For branding projects, continuity matters. The insights from discovery, like how you talk about your business, what your customers value and what makes you different, shape every design decision. Keeping the same senior team involved from start to finish means none of that gets lost in a hand-off. You'll have direct access to the people designing your brand, honest feedback when you need it and regular check-ins along the way. Our founders stay close to every project to make sure the work is strategic, not just good-looking.
What do I actually receive at the end?
You'll receive a complete logo system in every format, colour and typography systems, application mockups and, where they're part of the project, brand guidelines that make it easy for anyone to use your brand well.
Your logo files are organized by version and colour, with formats suited to print, web, social media and signage, so you always have the right file on hand. The colour and typography systems spell out exact values and font choices. Application mockups show how the brand looks in real life, on things like stationery, a website, signage or packaging. Brand guidelines bring it all together with clear rules your team, printers and other suppliers can follow, which keeps your brand consistent long after the project wraps.
Do you offer brand guidelines?
Yes. Brand guidelines are available as an add-on or as part of a full identity project, giving you a clear rulebook for logo use, colour, type, imagery and voice.
Brand guidelines make it easy for anyone, from your marketing team to a printer or web developer, to use your brand correctly without guessing. They typically include logo spacing and sizing, what not to do, colour values for print and screen, typography rules, photography style and examples of how your brand should sound. We tailor them to how your brand is actually used, so they're practical rather than decorative. We can also create guidelines for an existing brand, tidying up inconsistencies along the way.
