01 — Context

A home builder website for life on the glen

Minto Communities was launching Glen Agar, an exclusive infill project of detached residences in an established central Etobicoke neighbourhood, priced from $1.4 million. It needed a home builder website that could introduce the project, show the homes and give buyers a feel for the neighbourhood from the very start of sales.

Infill projects have a particular challenge: they are not a new subdivision with its own story. They have to borrow character from the street they join. We took our cue from the name.

A tartan header and a single line set the tone: this is life… on the glen.

02 — Design

Tartan, serif type and Glen style

Glen is a Scottish word, so the site leans into it with a full-width tartan header in deep blue, green and black, cut diagonally in the corner by the Glen Agar logo. Over it, the line this is life… on the glen is set in a bold, friendly serif that carries through every heading.

Below the header, the page gets straight to the point: a crisp rendering of a modern brick and stone home beside the project summary and the starting price, picked out in tartan green. A Glen style section introduces the models, each shown as a rendering with its name, number of elevations and square footage. The Black Watch, at 2,350 sq. ft., shares its name with one of the best-known tartans.

Further down, a news section and a history section with an archival photograph of the area give buyers the neighbourhood story that an infill project needs.

03 — Outcome

A small project with a big personality

The website design gives Glen Agar an identity that is easy to remember and hard to confuse with other new-home sites, while keeping the essentials, homes, prices and neighbourhood, one scroll away. It is a small example of why template websites hurt a brand: a tartan header and a single confident line do more than any stock layout could.
