01 — Context

Wastewater experts who answer the phone

Element Water Solutions is a small, woman-owned and family-operated chemical consulting company based in Charleston, South Carolina. Patrick Thiedke founded it in 2014 with the support of his wife, Vanessa, to bring honest, hands-on expertise to the wastewater treatment industry.

EWS helps industrial facilities across the U.S. run their water treatment as efficiently as possible: chemicals, equipment, dewatering, field programs, permits and consulting. The team has a combined 50+ years of experience, and a promise you don't hear often: you'll always talk to a real person.

They asked us for a website that looked as trustworthy as the big players, while still feeling personal.

02 — The look

Calm water, clear thinking

Wastewater isn't glamorous, but the people who run treatment plants care a lot about getting it right. We gave EWS a calm, editorial look that matches that seriousness. Elegant serif headlines and a clean sans for body copy, set in deep water blue on a soft mist background, with gentle waves rolling between sections.

The shield logo inspired the rest. Its water drop becomes the frame for the homepage photo, a treatment plant seen from above and washed in blue and green. Sky blue buttons and meadow green accents come straight from the mark, so the brand and the site feel like one thing.

The identity

One mark, many lockups

The EWS shield holds a lot of meaning in a small space: a water drop, a rising sun, green fields and a winding river. On the site it appears in a full family of lockups, from the compact EWS wordmark to the full Element Water Solutions name, in dark and light versions for any background.

03 — Structure

Four pages, no filler

EWS didn't need a sprawling site. It needed a clear one. We kept it to four pages: Home, About, Services and Contact.

The homepage introduces the company in one confident line, then shows four core services, a map of the U.S. noting clients from South Carolina and Georgia to Utah, Ohio and Texas, and a testimonial from a wastewater operator. About tells the founders' story and the values behind the business. Services goes deep, from chemical feed pumps and make down feeders to boiler, cooling tower and closed loop treatment programs, without losing the reader. It's a good example of aligning a website with business goals: every page points toward a consultation.

04 — People and reach

A family firm, working nationwide

The About page puts the founders front and centre: Patrick and Vanessa Thiedke, with their family, under a heading that says exactly what EWS is, "a family owned and operated boutique firm of industrial wastewater treatment and consulting professionals."

It's a smart move for a small firm competing with "big box" suppliers. Real faces build trust faster than any stock photo, and the nationwide map shows that small doesn't mean local only.

05 — The result

Small firm, serious presence

Element Water Solutions now has a website that feels as considered as the work it does: calm, credible and easy to read, with the founders' values on show and a clear path to a consultation on every page. We handled both the design and the development, so it looks the same in the browser as it did in Figma.
